About us

A gym built for people who think they hate gyms

We started Fitnex in 2016 because the fitness industry kept selling intensity and ignoring instruction. Our answer was simple: small groups, real coaching, and a programme you can actually follow.

years in the same building, training the same way: coached, programmed, repeatable.

Our story

We did not want another gym. We wanted a coaching practice with equipment.

The two of us met coaching in a commercial gym where members were handed a printout and left alone. Everyone lifted, nobody progressed, and the people who needed the most help were the ones who quietly stopped coming.

So we took over a warehouse in the Warehouse District, bought four platforms and made one rule: nothing happens in this building without a coach watching. Ten years later that rule still decides how we programme, how we hire and how many members we accept.

  • Maximum eight lifters per coached session
  • Every member gets a written 12-week programme
  • Movement screen before your first loaded set
  • Quarterly testing and an honest conversation

What we stand for

Four rules we do not break

They are unglamorous. They are also the reason our members are still here in five years.

  • Standards before ego

Full range of motion, honest load selection and a coach who will tell you when to add weight — and when to take it off.

  • Everyone gets coached

You will never be the only person in the room who does not know what to do next. That is our job, not your problem.

  • Longevity over PRs

We are building bodies that still work in thirty years. Personal bests are a by-product, not the whole point.

  • Simple, repeatable work

The boring movements, done well, for a long time. No gimmicks, no 30-day transformations, no supplements stand.

How we got here

Twelve years, four turning points

No investors, no franchise model, no sudden relaunch with a new logo. Just a building that kept getting better.

  1. 2016

    A warehouse and two platforms

Fitnex opened with 400 square metres, a second-hand rig and a promise that every session would be coached.

  2. 2019

    The recovery suite

We added infrared sauna, cold plunge and a dedicated mobility studio because members were training hard and recovering badly.

  3. 2023

    Five full-time coaches

The coaching team grew to five full-timers covering strength, conditioning, boxing, mobility and nutrition.

  4. Today

    Twenty-five classes a week

Seven programmes, a written plan for every member, and a waiting list that we are finally opening back up.

The team

Coaches, not attendants

Every coach here has competed, coached through injuries and can explain why a movement is prescribed.

Member stories

What changed for them

Five members, five honest answers. No before-and-after photos, because that was never the point.

“I came in unable to touch my toes and deadlifting 60kg. Eighteen months later I pulled 180kg at the quarterly testing day. The coaches write your programme down and actually remember where you left off.”

Coach-led sessions

Every class on the schedule has a coach running it, correcting it and scaling it in real time.

Written programming

You leave with a plan, not a memory of a workout. Your log lives in the member app.

A room that notices

Eight people per session means your name is used, your numbers are tracked and your bad days are seen.
